Aurora Watch
Here we are on the last day of February and spring is fast approaching in the northern hemisphere. There are still some good aurora viewing nights ahead as we head into March and the next few nights should be okay for viewers at high latitudes. A coronal hole stream is now moving past Earth above 500 km/s and is helping to disturb our geomagnetic field. Minor (G1) storming is NOT currently in the forecast, however a Kp of 4 will be possible during the next few days.

Minor Storm Observed
An isolated period of minor (G1) geomagnetic storming was observed at 05:59 UTC Wednesday morning. This was the result of an elevated solar wind stream containing sectors of southward Bz. Visible aurora will remain possible at higher latitudes.

Bz South / Aurora Watch
The Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) has shifted into a south pointing position on Tuesday morning and is helping to disturb our geomagnetic field. Visible aurora will be likely at higher latitudes while it is still dark outside.
