Polar connected coronal holes #07 and #08 will be partially facing Earth over the next several days. A high speed solar wind stream could brush past Earth beginning December 21st and lead to a geomagnetic enhancement (Kp4). An isolated period of minor (G1) geomagnetic storming could also be possible, but we will have to wait for the solar wind to arrive past our planet and see how things unfold. Aurora sky watchers should be alert early next week.
In other news, the visible disk is now void of sunspots. Things could change during the next 48 hours when old regions 2785 and 2786 are expected to turn back into view off the east limb. Stay tuned for the latest information.
