C3.5 Solar Flare (SDO/AIA)

A pair of C-Flares were observed within the past few hours off the southwest limb. The latest was a minor C3.5 at 15:11 UTC (Oct 16). After further examination, the activity looks to be centered around a new plage that was in formation just before rotating off the limb. They did not originate around plage region 2775, still in view in the southwest quadrant. Because this activity is taking place around a region not facing our planet, there will be no impacts expected. Image by SDO/HMI.
